The ultimate modeling bass instrument, IK multimedia "MODO Bass 2" is released.

The ultimate modeling bass instrument, IK multimedia's MODO Bass 2, is now available. Crossgrades and upgrades from MODO Bass are available for the release.

IK MULTIMEDIA "MODO BASS" is the most popular physical modeling electric bass instrument. It is a bass instrument that can generate and play realistic performances in real time, and can achieve articulations like a live performance in a compact size. The long-awaited acoustic bass has been added in the new version. It also includes a phrase pattern library and other features that enhance it considerably.

MODO BASS, the industry's first physical modeling electric bass instrument, has evolved into V2, adding fretless and upright basses. The software itself has also been enhanced with the addition of pattern playback and improved pick and slap algorithms. After eight years of joint research and development between the University of Padua, one of the oldest universities in Europe, and IK, which has a long and steady track record in analog modeling technology for guitar amplifiers and effectors, we are proud to present this virtual instrument product. The sound is realistic. The sound is as realistic and authentic as if played by an accomplished bassist, and you get it with this latest virtual instrument.

MODO BASS is based on a completely new technology that redefines the virtual instrumentation of computer bass. MODO BASS is not a sampled bass instrument, but a bass instrument based on the physical modeling concept of real-time acoustic synthesis based on physical models of all aspects of the final bass sound. First, the bass itself is modeled as an instrument. Not only the body material, strings, pickups, and wiring that make up the bass, but also their interactions are modeled. Various playing techniques, amplifiers, effects, etc. are also modeled. The sound is then synthesized in real-time based on the physical model of the actual instrument's characteristics and playing style.

## Long-awaited fretless bass support

Two new fretless bass models have been added to the MODO BASS lineup. The "Fretless Jazz," a reference to Jaco Pastorius' customized Fender Jazz Bass, has a tone and dynamics that are instantly recognizable. The "Fretless Bass Man," a reference to Pino Palladino's famous Music Man StingRay, offers the bass sound of Paul Young, Don Henley, and others. In addition to these two new fretless basses, 18 other electric basses can also be made into fretless models. This update is possible only with physical modeling instruments that reproduce the behavior of the neck, strings, body, and other components.

## Upright basses are also available.

Along with the fretless model, an upright bass model has been added in response to requests from existing MODO BASS users. Two models are available: "Upright Studio," which references the wood bass used in classic jazz, and "Rockabilly," which references a nylon-string double bass ideal for slap-heavy rockabilly, so you can choose the model that best suits your musical style! The "Rockabilly" model is a double bass with nylon strings, ideal for rockabilly. If you choose the upright bass, the "STUDIO" screen allows you to adjust the proximity mic position and mix a stereo pair of ambient room mics. You can also mix pickup signals and pass through effects pedals and bass amp models, allowing you to go beyond acoustic sounds.

## Added pattern playing functionality

MODO BASS 2 adds a "PATTERNS" screen with smart filters that allow you to browse by genre, song section, playing style, length, beat, and more. From patterns for bass tracks that support a song to solo phrases, you can audition each pattern to find the one you need. The MODO BASS is often said to have a "human touch even when played solidly," but each phrase in the "PATTERNS" is recorded from a professional bass player's performance, so you can play back the rawest, best groove and feel, in sync with the DAW's tempo. The PATTERNS are recorded with a professional bass player's performance.

## Improved reproduction of playing techniques

In MODO BASS 2, the pick and slap technique algorithms that can be selected in the "PLAYSTYLE" screen have been further refined to reproduce a more realistic playing feel than ever before. Combined with various adjustment functions such as string plucking position, intensity, direction, detach noise caused by string vibrations, and slide noise, the bass and the entire song can be elevated to new heights by bringing life to the otherwise monotonous MIDI file.
