ResonHeart is an unprecedented experimental pneumatic instrument-based physical modeling simulation of acoustic instruments. Working on the principles of fluid dynamics, all components within ResonHeart are modeled after existing hardware (commercial devices such as air pumps, pneumatic valves, and metal resonators), designed to be potentially real replicable machines. ResonHeart is built as a virtual instrument using physical modeling technology (ACS) and should be viewed as a naturally occurring acoustic machine consisting of clockwork components, air pumps, motors, pneumatic valves, and complex resonator blocks (one for each voice). Each resonator block consists of a set of 16 universal Helmholtz resonators (individually triggered and adjustable) arranged in a distinctive modal synthesis disposition.
