MODO DRUM is not just a sound source that plays back recorded samples. Using modal synthesis technology, MODO DRUM synthesizes sounds in real time based on a physical model. The underlying physical model was developed over a period of 11 years through a collaboration between the University of Padua (founded in 122), famous for its professors such as Galileo Galilei and Dante, and IK Multimedia (founded in 1996), which has accumulated technology in the modeling of guitar amps, vintage outboards, etc. In the development of MODO DRUM, all elements and their interactions were analyzed and modeled, from the type, diameter, and depth of the head, shell, sticks, and beaters, to resonance, resonance, the position of the left and right sticks, the range of variation, and the kick technique.
