Powerful Bit Manipulation
Bitpunk is an extremely powerful and versatile digital degradation effect. It can manipulate bits in a variety of ways, including bit swapping, classic bit crushing, bit inversion, and bit morphing. With numerous bit mangling FX, master compression, saturation, and hard clippers, this is perhaps the most advanced bit plug-in to date.
Enhance or Destroy
Bitpunk can subtly enrich a sound in a variety of ways. Add top-end crunch with bit crushing and rate reduction, smooth with filters, enhance the low end with feedback, and compress and saturate for the ultimate enhancement. Or you can go hard by bringing bits to life, transforming them with frequency shift and glitch FX, and then overdriving everything through aggressive compression and hard clipping. Bitpunk can go from subtle sonic magic to all-out degradation, deformation, and destruction.
Making a Difference
The main focus of this plug-in is to swap the bits on the two channels A and B. The two channels are then used to create a new sound. In order for bit swapping to be effective, the two channels must be different in some way, and there are many ways to achieve this using A FX and B FX, which sound great as is, but can sound downright dirty when bit swapped. These include rate reducers, square-wave frequency shifters, synchronizable delays, and high-pass & low-pass filters.
New Love
In mute mode, Bitpunk can be used to swap bits of input for muffled bits for a classic bit crushing effect. The standard bit crusher mutes bits from highest to lowest, but here you can mute bits in any order if you want a modern twist on a classic effect.
Swap Anything
Bitpunk has a sidechain input that allows you to route any audio to the B channel. Bits can then be exchanged between the two signals, allowing for smooth morphing between the two sound sources in a very unique way. Additionally, sidechaining can be used to duplicate the input signal and use external FX to create differences between the two channels.
Master FX
Once you have completed the transformation and degradation of the audio using bit FX, you can do some extended processing on the sound to finish it off. These include an aggressive compressor, soft clipping diode saturation, high-pass & low-pass filters, and a hard clipper. Use them to reduce grating, fatten the sound, overdrive and forget, and blend the overall effect with the master dry/wet mix.
