[Best Price Ever] The definitive official emulation plug-in that reproduces the Urei 1176 FET compressor Universal Audio's "1176 Classic Limiter Collection" is 90% off, the lowest price ever at $29.
The Universal Audio "1176 Classic Limiter Collection" is a collection of 1176 compressor emulation plug-ins that model the company's Universal Audio 1176 model and three revised models.
The original Universal Audio 1176 was designed by UA founder MT "Bill" Putnam and represents a major breakthrough in limiter technology. The first compressor with solid-state circuitry and ultra-fast 20 microsecond FET gain reduction, the 1176 is an easy-to-use "desert island" compressor that has given its character and punch to some of the greatest recordings in history. Released in 2001, UA's first 1176 plug-in singlehandedly launched the UAD platform. Extensive end-to-end circuit modeling in 2013 captured even more sonic nuances. With updated graphics and added controls, the 1176 Classic Limiter Collection continues the tradition of great analog modeling.
A Triple Threat
The 1176 Classic Limiter Plug-in Collection offers three distinct 1176 revisions representing over 40 years of design iterations on the original 1176. Rev A "Bluestripe" represents the original Putnam FET limiter design, with higher distortion and a proprietary FET gain amplifier. Features. Rev E "Blackface" covers the early '70s Brad Plunkett "LN" (Low Noise) era, with a more linear compression response, transistor gain amplification, program-dependent changes, and other variations. The 1176AE offers UA's rare 1176 40th Anniversary Edition, complete with unique mods including a lower 2:1 compression ratio.
Traditional Compression Quickly
Using the 1176 is a study in simplicity. Input simultaneously sets the compression threshold and the level of the signal entering the 1176. Output sets the final signal level. Attack sets how long it takes the 1176 to respond to the input signal, while Release sets how long it takes the 1176 to return to its initial level. The VU meter displays the amount of gain reduction (GR) or the output level (+4/+8).
Iconic Colored Ratio Buttons
The four Ratio buttons determine the degree of gain reduction. Low ratios compress, high ratios limit. Removing all Ratio buttons disables compression but the signal continues to pass through the 1176 circuitry, adding unmistakable color. By user request, the plugin now allows all "multi-button" combinations possible in hardware, including the famous "all-button" sound.
Exclusive plug-in-only features bring modern workflows to this classic processor collection. Quickly parallelize bass and kick drums with dry/wet mix control or control low-frequency pumping with a custom sidechain filter. Plus, enhanced graphics with improved VU metering bring iconic FET compression into a new era.
