This is an introduction to Accentize "PreFET", a free saturation plug-in that models vintage transistor preamps using machine learning.

Machine learning has become more common recently. This plug-in seems to have tried to reproduce the nature of tabletop preamps using machine learning.

PreFET is a machine learning-based transistor preamp emulation designed using the same concept as PreTube. The included artificial neural network learned to accurately mimic the transistor preamp stage of a 70s tabletop cassette recorder. Depending on the drive setting, PreFET can color the sound from subtle analog saturation to heavy overdrive.

It's simple, just adjust the Drive on the one knob. It's cleaner than I expected when I tried it, and it's perfect for adding warmth to the sound compared to digital sounds. It turns into a rich sound. It's an honor student position, and of course it passes the test for being free. It seems to be good to use as saturation. However, if you increase the value to 100%, it will add bold distortion that will sound like distortion or bit crushing, so if you don't want that, it's best to keep it at around 80%.
