Routing any audio through OBSIDIAN transforms the nature and timbre of the sound in unexpected ways, adding color with its secret FX matrix and spectral delay. It's a truly creative plugin, perfect for those looking for something special to reshape their audio without losing its original character. Frequency and Hype Matrix

The heart of OBSIDIAN is the XY pad, where the magic happens, featuring a central node that you can drag or automate in your DAW to creatively move between different processing styles. FREQ controls the frequency and shape of the audio-rate modulation. HYPE sets the modulation depth and other special parameters. This secret combination of FX creates additional harmonics that add excitement and color to the sound. Basically, the input signal is modulated at a very high rate, and the formant is shifted before passing through the spectral delay line.


Creative Spectral Delay

The delay unit within OBSIDIAN is quite beautiful. This module, with its TIME, MODE, and FEEDBACK controls, feeds the audio back into the main matrix, creating ever-changing feedback. It's a delay with seemingly simple controls that has many creative applications. Rhythmic effects, ambient textures, subtle vocal thickening, and expansive synth echoes. The Delay Time can be adjusted from 10ms to 2s, with options for straight, triplet, and dotted note subdivisions. The MODE allows you to set the timing to free-play or sync to the host project's BPM. Randomization

When you're stuck for ideas, or want Obsidian to suggest a magical transformation, press the dice icon in the center. The XY pad will randomize, automatically selecting a great effect to shape your audio.

Mixing

For creative purposes, it's useful to be able to mix the processed audio that OBSIDIAN generates with the original source audio. Use the Mix slider for this, allowing you to evoke all kinds of processing, from subtle transformations to fully-fledged, endlessly rotating, dub-style modulation.

Presets

Many presets are included, making it easy to find the ideal way to modulate your music. These factory options work with guitar, bass, drums, synths, vocals, and almost any kind of audio signal. The presets cover everything from subtle transformations to complete, twisted mutations.
