UVI's Super-7, a virtual synthesizer based on the Roland MKS-7, is now 75% off, hitting an all-time low of just $19.
The Super-7 faithfully recreates the vibrant sound of the '80s. The MKS-7 is an 8-voice rackmount synthesizer that combines the analog architecture of the legendary 106 with the PCM sound of the 7o7 drum machine. A highly sought-after and often-emulated instrument that endures to this day, the 106 has been embraced by artists ranging from pop legends Depeche Mode to the genre-transcending Autechre. Its powerful and dynamic sound not only creates rich, distinctive tones for modern productions, but can also envelop entire tracks in a distinctive, warm, analog vibe.
Building on the concept and structure of the Program 24 library, Super-7 evolves, exploring sounds from a wide range of genres, including synthwave, new wave, electro, house, and '80s synth pop. By multisampling a vast array of patches custom-designed for the MKS-7 and recording each sample three times—normally, with chorus on, and noise switched on—we've given you unprecedented access to the hardware's sounds.
While the MKS-7 included the PCM sounds of the 7o7, we've gone a step further by adding carefully selected vintage-era drums from hardware like the 6o6, 626, 7o7, 8o8, and 9o9, as well as a host of new sounds created with our proprietary Drum Designer.
Super-7 is an inspiring, versatile, and highly enjoyable instrument, encompassing everything from lush analog synth lines, bass, drums, arpeggiators, phrases, and even entire songs. Featuring six independent layers, it offers independent control over eight tracks of drums, bass, melody, and three general-purpose synth parts. From traditional instrumental performances to creative layering and effects, you're free to explore.
In addition to drums, each Super-7 instrument layer features its own unique amplifier envelope, multi-mode filter with envelope, effects like drive, phaser, and EQ, send effects like reverb and delay, and a complex arpeggiator/phraser, allowing you to create unique, dynamic sequences. You can fine-tune these modules, explore the extensive sound engine and arpeggiator presets, or create your own sequences.
In addition to the multi-instrument, each part can also be used standalone, allowing you to load only the sounds you need for your arrangement. Each standalone instrument has the same parameters, effects, effect sends, arpeggiator, and presets as the multi-instrument. Standalone instruments are ideal for focusing on individual sound design or creating additional instruments.
For those seeking an instrument that allows them to explore the depths of sound design, the Super-7 offers not only immense potential but also instant inspiration. Packed with ready-to-use sounds and musical ideas, the Super-7 includes over 260 factory patches, fully expressing the instrument's sonic potential and the creative vision of our in-house sound design team.
