Pitch Innovations' "Sonic Atlas" is an innovative world music sampler featuring powerful real-time effects. It offers carefully selected melodies and rhythms from guitars, vocals, wind instruments, percussion, synth sounds, and other music and ethnic instruments from around the world. It's similar in structure to Output Arcade and NI's Leap. Expansion libraries are available, and this one appears to be an excerpt from those. While it's called a sampler, it's actually a virtual instrument with samples assigned to the keyboard. By playing multiple keys, you can create sounds like a drum + plucked string instrument. It's not just a typical ethnic instrument sound source with single notes, but it's also fun to play around with, as it feels more like an instrument for ethnic-style beatmaking.
The key switch real-time effects are very cool, including stutter, half-speed, reverse, and tape slowdown. The free version includes six patches. There seem to be no feature limitations, making it a very comprehensive package.
