SSL Sourcerer is a highly optimized expander that reduces microphone bleed during live and studio recordings, creating a more natural mix without the need for gating. Its intuitive controls are designed to maximize workflow efficiency, featuring adjustable threshold, time, and depth, as well as high-pass and low-pass filters, allowing you to quickly and efficiently adjust settings.
Developed for the SSL Live console series, Sourcerer builds on SSL's extensive digital processing expertise to help overcome the challenges of mic bleed and feedback faced by both live and studio engineers. It can be used in a variety of scenarios, from eliminating mic bleed during live jam recordings to suppressing crosstalk during podcasts and panel discussions.
Release Time Settings
SSL Sourcerer offers three easy-to-use release time settings (slow, medium, and fast), allowing users to match the gate decay to the natural release of the audio source, preventing unnatural cutoff.
Visual Feedback
SSL Sourcerer's dual visual feedback graphs allow for precise adjustments based on real-time visual cues. The upper graph shows the sidechain and filtered signal, while the lower graph displays the threshold level and gain reduction.
Advanced Ducking Function
The ducking function provides greater control during relatively quiet periods such as panel discussions, or in complex live situations where constant background noise can be distracting, such as live performances in front of large audiences. The ducking function also features an adjustable ducking delay, allowing you to synchronize the ducking effect with the timing of the source material.
Sidechain Source Selection
Choose between internal and external sidechain sources to suit your source material and desired effect. Internal Side Chain allows you to directly monitor the side chain input and set appropriate detection and processing based on the signal triggering the dynamics control. External Side Chain, on the other hand, allows you to use an external audio source for the side chain, allowing you to trigger noise reduction processing from other tracks in your mix, providing more flexible dynamics control.
Threshold, Depth, and Time Controls
SSL Sourcerer's intuitive controls allow you to perfectly fine-tune your sound, whether in a dynamic live environment or a controlled studio environment. The Threshold, Depth, and Time controls are particularly effective when you need to achieve results in time-sensitive environments.
Dual Detection Modes
Switch between RMS and Peak Detection modes to best suit the material you're processing. RMS mode provides a smooth, averaged response suited to continuous sounds, while Peak mode is ideal for processing fast transients.
