SSL X-Gate is a comprehensive, highly visual gating plug-in inspired by the workflow of SSL's digital broadcast consoles. Featuring a rolling waveform graph, mid/side processing options, and adjustable hysteresis with independent open and close thresholds, X-Gate builds on SSL's rich heritage in digital console gate design. X-Gate offers a variety of unique controls for extensive sound sculpting. Use the intuitive sidechain filter interface and mid/side balance options to focus the gate on unwanted sounds, leaving the processed signal natural or affected. In addition to visual feedback, including a hardware-inspired signal system for instant visual confirmation of the gate's current status, the rolling waveform visualization graph provides an intuitive display of the incoming signal for setting the opening and closing thresholds.

Not only is X-Gate ideal for sound design during the mixing stage, but its variable look-ahead time and zero additional plug-in latency at minimum settings make it the perfect tool for tracking situations where microphone bleed may distract from the primary material. EXP Mode and DUCK Mode instantly drop the plug-in into two additional modes visualized in the I/O graph. A fixed Expander mode for transparent gating and a Duck mode to attenuate the signal only when the threshold is exceeded. Combine this with your DAW's sidechain for intelligent ducking.
