D16 Group is a manufacturer strong in hardware modeling.

D16 Group's "Decimort 2" is a bitcrusher plugin that can reproduce the unique sonic coloration of classic samplers such as AKAI.

Electronic music producers (especially in hip-hop) have long recognized that classic samplers (such as early AKAI and E-MU Unit) possess a unique character and sound. Adding "grit" and "color" to samples, the loops they played made them sound "fat" and fit well into mixes. This sonic coloration was due to encoding techniques, low sample rates and bit depths, and the conversion circuits used in these early samplers. Decimort reproduces this coloration, adding that vintage sampler magic to loops, basslines, or any sound played through it. Beyond vintage sampler emulation, it's also a perfect bitcrusher with filters allowing for extreme settings for dramatic results.
