Switch modules into the signal path, tweak key parameters, load sub-presets into modules, adjust routing, and mix, solo, or mute various processors. To dive deeper, simply click a module's box to open its dedicated synth, vocoder, or effect page—it couldn't be easier.
ORANGE VOCODER IV is more than just a vocoder; it is both an inspiring sound design playground and an efficient production tool.
ORANGE VOCODER IV features a 64-voice synthesizer equipped with hundreds of presets and a preset generator that creates new sounds at the click of a button. The synth can be used as an input for the vocoder, layered with other modules, or used standalone.
Its two oscillators utilize both analog-emulated and sampled vintage digital waveforms, offering ring modulation, hard sync, through-zero FM, and two flavors of seven different polyphonic distortion types. These feed into a low-pass filter (6–24 dB) with beautiful resonance. Comprehensive modulation options include mono and polyphonic LFOs (capable of audio-rate modulation), AD envelopes, envelope followers, zero-crossing trackers, velocity, and four destination macro controls. It supports unison operation with up to 8 voices, DETUNE and CLUSTER modes, and mono-legato with glide; you can play the synth via MIDI or specify notes using the on-screen keyboard.
Pitch Quantizer
ORANGE VOCODER IV features a pitch quantizer that forces the input signal to specific pitches—usable either alongside or instead of the vocoder. It offers five modes—QUANTIZE, SCALE, NOTE, ENFORCE, and POLYFORCE—providing flexibility and a wide range of sound options. ENFORCE and POLYFORCE utilize a wavetable-inspired approach and feature zero-latency processing for live performance. The pitch quantizer is incredibly easy to use: simply switch it on, select an algorithm, and it is controlled by the same notes as the synth. Naturally, mono-legato and glide are included.
Freezer
Clicking the large snowflake button on the FREEZER module freezes the incoming audio, sustaining the current timbre indefinitely. It is positioned before the pitch quantizer module, allowing you to play melodies over the frozen sound. You can load and save freeze buffers to build a library of timbres.
The DICE button in ORANGE VOCODER IV triggers a smart randomizer that loads carefully curated settings into the synth, vocoder, and freezer modules. No more endless clicking—you know the drill: click, ouch, click, seriously?
You can exclude specific modules from the dice roll and choose whether to generate musical or SFX-style sounds (or both), as well as whether to use factory sub-presets, your own, or both. DICE is context-aware; if you are in the synth view, only the synth settings are randomized.
Zynth
Like DICE, the ZYNTH button is designed to spark inspiration. Clicking it generates a brand-new synth setting from scratch. ZYNTH combines scripting and AI to reliably generate excellent patches. Check it out!
