Features

It also features a wide variety of oscillator patterns such as Classic, Noise, FM, AMSync, SawPWM, etc.
A step function and arpeggiator are also available. The step function in particular is very easy to operate, as you can control the curve and number of iterations for each point using various edit functions, rather than actually drawing the line. (The cycle can be changed by adjusting X1X2 (X1X2, etc.). ) The arpeggiator is relatively simple to create and use.

The arpeggiator is relatively simple, but it has various arpeggiator patterns, gates, sustain, etc., and can be used without excess or deficiency.

Most of the parameters provided as knobs can be used by anyone who has ever played a synthesizer.

The routing function by right-clicking, dragging, and dropping knobs is similar to that of Serum. The routing destination lights up, so it is easy to see where you can connect.

Evaluation

This is a very popular and large synth.
The presets are not too quirky, but rather easy to use, with presets that you may have heard at least once. Overall, the sound is a step away from the heavy-rock sound (of course, there are tones in that direction as well), and it is easy to use for pops and other music. And it doesn't sound old, so it has a good balance.
There are not only vintage hardware synth sounds, but also EDM sounds that are more digital, and there are a lot of tones that can be used frequently for hi-fi and other applications.

The sound is not piercing like Serum's, nor is it a reserved sound that is devoted to backing, but it has a certain thickness and a good sense of assertion, so I have the impression that many of the tones are easy to use as they are. (My impression is that Serum has a sharp, hard sound, while Spire has a clear outline but is not sharp, making it easy to listen to.)

Another advantage is the ease of operation. The routing method is the same as Serum, etc., but it is easy to understand and has all the necessary information on one screen, so you can reach the sound you are looking for without stress. Another point is that it is lightweight for its many functions.
As for the functions, I have the impression that it is more focused on ease of use rather than having a full set of brand new features. It is easy to draw envelopes.
Compared to the popular large synths that have appeared in the last 5 years, Avenger seems to have the most innovative features. And Serum tends to be a bit pointy in sound with TheSerum.
Spire is more like a synth that has been reorganized to be easy to use, but with no shortage of modern-oriented features. Therefore, I think that traditional synth users will find it easy to use. For those who are new to synths or are looking for a commercially versatile sound, this is a very easy-to-use synth that is highly recommended. On the other hand, it is not like Nexus, where the majority of the synthesizers are somewhat old and outdated, so it is a very well-balanced synthesizer.

It is designed to be more intuitive and easier to edit than Serum, without the ability to load wavetable waveforms or draw parameters from scratch like Serum.

In that respect, it seems to me that Serum is better balanced in this respect.
