Review of "Loopcloud" (Sampler & sample management software with sound editing functions, ease of use, etc.)

We have recently introduced Loopcloud and would like to review it. Here, I will not touch on various services such as the availability of sample packs, etc., but will focus on the usability of the software and evaluate it as a plug-in.
Furthermore, I am glad to see that recently, once every few months, products are distributed to Loopcloud registered users. (Not sure if this will continue in the future?)

Loopcloud" is a sampler-like plug-in that can be loaded as a plug-in on a DAW (standalone is also available), and samples managed on the plug-in can be loaded and edited.
It is displayed like a database like this.

It is divided by BPM, etc. as usual. This is the same as the usual database-like management software.

New features

Loopcloud 6 has a new AI function called "Sound Match". (In addition, some effects seem to have been added.)

Loopcloud's new audio filters make it easy to find the perfect sound floating around in your head. Use the sliders for Tone, Length, Stereo, BPM, Swing, Rhythm Density, Attack, and Decay to find the characteristics you need, and narrow your search by setting specific ranges for each category.
I've used it and found it to be extremely useful. The audio filters in the sidebar allow you to freely set and refine the key and frequency bands, audio length, stereo width, BPM, swing, sound density, and in the case of one shots, attack and decay length using gauges.

It is very helpful to be able to instantly narrow down a sample based on the nuances of the sound. In particular, the ability to narrow down the frequency bandwidth and attack, etc., is a strong feature not found in other software.

The AI Match function allows you to narrow down similar tones based on three parameters: harmony, rhythm, and timbre. There are many times when you want to find a tone that is similar to the one you have chosen, and being able to do so in an instant is very convenient.

As you can see on the screen, you can select each of the tones by pressing the symbols that look like gradient balls.

Since tone matching can also be used for your own samples, combined with the auto-tagging function, it will become an indispensable tool for managing your own samples.

Below is a list of other features.

And a great feature is the sample edit function. It includes a lot of super high-tech features not usually found in samplers. Of course, you can also chop up samples.

First, if you look at the sampler area at the bottom of the screen, you can get a general idea of the functions: loop playback, change the pitch (or match it to the key), double speed, half speed, and stretch to match the BPM.

First of all, the sample can be sliced in the Scissors mode in the Tools section, but this is a non-destructive process. You can scroll and slice any part of the loaded sample by clicking and dragging the cut sample.

This allows you to rearrange the sample without having to cut, paste, and swap samples.

Incidentally, the pencil mark can be inserted into the dragged area, overwriting the region from the beginning of the original sample.

The pencil mark is a region that can be inserted by overwriting the original sample from the beginning. Each region can then be shrunk (non-destructively) and reversed, just as in a DAW.

In addition, a series of sample slice editing pattern presets are provided, allowing you to slice your own loaded samples by applying a slice pattern based on house, beat, or other ready-to-use rhythm patterns, as shown in the screenshot below.
The ability to replace all of the slices with other samples while maintaining the slice patterns is one of the unique strengths of this software.

In other words, you can instantly replace only the tones without changing the flow of the music. It would take a very long time to do this normally.

Perhaps technically, it is possible to replace one sample with another because the timeline position of the sample is mapped and recorded like coordinates. I am curious how it is done.

And the effects function is very extensive. You can load them into the effects rack like this.

There are a variety of effects from reverbs to granulas, and the best part is that you can draw automation for each effect. As shown in the screen below, you can draw automation for each effect in blocks. It seems that it is not possible to draw curves, but it is quite convenient.

And of course, there is an export function (download symbol on the bottom left) that allows you to drag-and-drop or save the original or sliced samples to your DAW. It is very nice to be able to export samples, since you can do quite complicated things on the software.

This plug-in is well known as a sample management software, but my impression is that its function as a sampler is more appealing.

In particular, it is very convenient to be able to replace sliced samples with other samples without changing the slicing process. It also has a full range of presets, so it is very versatile in that you can use the presets to fine-tune your image as you solidify it. And since it is basically a non-destructive process, there is no hassle, which I liked very much. As for sound editing, the software allows you to edit a single sample, so you have to use the DAW to cross-fertilize the different samples.

I think this plug-in is very versatile and will be a strong ally for those who work with sample-based productions. I honestly didn't expect it to be this useful.

How to register

1. Click "Start Free Trial" at the upper right corner of the screen and make sure you have selected Monthly or Annual on the plan selection screen.
