Pulsar Audio's "Smasher," which emulates the British mode of the Urei 1176 FET compressor (normally $49), is now available for free for a limited time.
PULSAR "Smasher" is an analog emulation of the 1176 with accurate modeling of the circuit.
Smasher is an unprecedented custom modification of the classic Urei 1176 compressor circuit. It is a proprietary formula that the Pulsar team stumbled upon while tweaking other algorithms. The original 1176 compressor hardware offered four ratio choices, but the studio engineers soon discovered that pushing them all at once would lead to a distorted, explosive, highly compressed sound that Smasher was painstakingly designed to replicate. was this "all buttons visible" or "UK" mode.
