Heavyocity's "Punish" is an effects processor with compressor, EQ, transient, limiter, and saturator, and is known for its versatility. It is also highly regarded on the street.
From subtle warmth to extreme drive and compression, PUNISH injects character and edge into any mix or instrument track. As featured in Heavyocity's award-winning line of virtual instruments, it is now the same PUNISH effect you know and love in VST / AU / AAX plug-in format.
Modeled after Heavyocity's custom analog signal chain, PUNISH gives you control over compression, saturation, transients, EQ, and limits. String the modules together to get that signature PUNISH sound, or isolate the modules to experience each dynamic effect on its own.
Add warmth as well as punch and a variety of other sounds at will.
This is a high-performance plug-in that can be used freely from mixing to mastering. It is also known for adding punch to sounds.
Compressor/Saturation
The PUNISH Saturation module comes in three different models, each with its own brand of warmth, drive, and character.
With the Classic Broadcast Mic Pre (vintage), Chunky Harmony Saturation (modern), and Fat Tube Saturation (tube), the PUNISH Saturation module can add a little grit to a track or overload the whole Loads can be used to add a bit of grit to a track or overload the whole thing.
Transients / EQ / Limiter
Controlling attack, sustain, and output gain, PUNISH's transient shaping module allows the user to saturate a sound and then return a stronger transient to the signal. This module also has a hold control to determine the length of the attack.
The EQ module is basic but powerful, lifting high and low frequencies. Set the EQ pre or post to affect the highs and lows before or after comps, sats, and transients.
To prevent clipping, PUNISH also has a limiter at the end of the chain. Controlling the amount of soft clip and release time is important when its saturation starts to make things really hairy.
Cleverly Created Presets
To get you started right away, PUNISH comes with a wealth of crafted presets divided into six categories. This is where PUNISH's versatility really shines. From bass to drums to mixing/mastering, PUNISH has a wide range of applications. Whatever it is, PUNISH has a setting for you - there are over 90 presets for each type of instrument and a bonus folder of HY staff favorites. These are a great starting point, but the option to save your own presets is also available.
