Soniccouture "Sun Drums", a high-quality acoustic drum instrument with a powerful sequencer, ideal for modern beats, has been released and is now 35% off in the intro sale. At the same time, a crossgrade sale from Moonkits is underway.
Sun Drums is a sister instrument to the acclaimed Moonkits, with the same studio, same vintage desk and mic, and the same soft, dynamic drum style. The focus is on the sticks, not the brushes. Featuring a vast collection of vintage and modern drums, SunDrums is built with a modern, dry sound in mind, from classic breakbeats to vibrant hip-hop and fat-pop drums.
Sun Drums was recorded at Konk Studios in north London, founded and still owned by RayDavies of TheKinks, and has been recorded by The Stones Roses, Massive Attack, The Fall, Blur, Depeche Mode, the Portishead, Al Green, The Cure, Artic Monkeys, The Kinks, and more, as heard on their records, this room has a great drum sound. A custom Neve console (with 1095 EQ) was purchased from Utopia Studios in 1974 and used to record TheWall by Pink Floyd, among many other classic records.
The mixer opens in a drum window for fast workflow. Each kit has its own mixer channel with full featured channel strips to shape the sound. Overhead and rear + room mics can be routed to individual mix busses or stay within individual drum channels. Each channel can be sent to a separate Kontakt output on the DAW for additional mixing.
Euclidean Beats is an innovative way to generate drum patterns. It is simpler than it first appears. Set any number of hits and any number of steps per track and Euclid will place them all equally. Within seconds it generates creative grooves you never imagined - you can't go wrong with a single step.
Poly Beats is a new kind of drum sequencer from Soniccouture. Each track divides the bar into arbitrary subdivisions or poly rhythms. Since each track can be set up to be completely different from each other, poly rhythms can quickly sound very strange and unnatural. Definitely for left field.
