The Dutch Harpsichord Library by realsamples brings the original 1628 harpsichord to your desktop. This instrument was built by legendary Antwerp (then Dutch) builder Andreas Ruckers. Sampled in six different registers/combinations including upper 8 feet, lower 8 feet (main 8 feet), tutti, both 8 feet, 4 foot register, and lute stop, the Ruckers family instruments are among the finest ever made They represent the famous and popular sound of the Flanders harpsichord while ranking as one of the best harpsichords ever made. Their full and precious sound influenced the design of Spanish, French, English, and German harpsichords.

Like all harpsichords, Ruckers are not touch sensitive. However, due to the resonance between the body and the strings, certain sounds do not sound exactly the same. Triggering the exact same digital sample leaves the impression of a cold sound. Therefore, to further capture the vibrancy and depth of this antique instrument, realsamples were recorded in registers with up to eight variations of each note. To complete the harpsichord experience, four release samples of each note per register were also captured. The sample library contains approximately 3,700 single samples. The instrument was recorded in its original tuning of 372 Hz; Kontakt® presets (full version required) are included at 372 Hz & 440 Hz, Valotti, and mean ration. realsamples were recorded at 192 kHz/24-bit for the harpsichord and the downsampled the result to 44.1 kHz.
